The Polish Support Center for Culture in Ukraine

The Support Center for Culture in Ukraine has been established by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage within the structure of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage. It functions as a coordinator of the government’s aid for the cultural sector in Ukraine. The Institute’s experience and the years long Polish-Ukrainian cooperation provided grounds for organizing efficient support of Ukraine’s cultural heritage from the first days of the war. The Center coordinates Polish and international initiatives salvaging Ukraine’s cultural properties. It also conducts informational and educational activities on the subject of Ukraine’s cultural heritage focusing on the threats and losses caused by the armed activities. It cooperates with Polish cultural institutions, museums, state archives and libraries, conservation offices and other institutions. The Institute supports Ukrainian specialists with its expertise, including by organising training and carrying out joint projects. An important area of cooperation is helping Ukrainian specialists to use new technologies, including 3D scanning to document war losses of architectural and construction objects.
